Continuing from After a DUI Conviction: Alcohol Education Classes (Part 1), the following provides some further information regarding what alcohol education classes for DUIs entail. Here, in Part 2, we will take a closer look at the specific “tracks” for these classes and provide information regarding what types of DUI convictions are generally associated with the various tracks.

When it comes to being ordered to alcohol education classes, individuals can be ordered to complete either:

  • The Level I alcohol education course, which involves 12 hours of education provided over at least two sessions (unless a counselor recommends that additional sessions be completed). Level I is usually reserved for individuals who were younger than 21 years old when convicted of their DUI.
  • The Level II alcohol education course, which involves both education and therapy, with the exact commitment depending on an individual’s specific case.

The following table outlines the specific tracks associated with the Level II alcohol education course.
