There never seems to be a shortage of things to do around Denver at any time of year. Here are a few of our best bets for end of summer entertainment.
Meet in the Street
When: August 2 and 9, 2015
Where: 16th Street Mall, Denver, CO
Time: 11:00am to 6:00pm
Head down to the 16th Street Mall for a day of free, healthy activities that promote community. Launched by the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District, the event encourages people to get outside, bike, and play in the Mall in a different way. The street will be closed during the festivities to make room for local live music, games for all ages, activities for the kids, and meeting up with friends. This is a rain or shine event, so make sure to be prepared for the weather before you head out.
A Taste of Colorado
When: September 4-7, 2015
Where: Civic Center Park, Broadway and Colfax Ave.
Time: Friday, 11:30am to 10:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10:30am to 11:30pm; Monday, 10:30am to 8:00pm
Cost: Admission is free, food and drink prices vary by vendor
No matter what kind of food suits your fancy, you’re sure to find it at A Taste of Colorado. Over 50 restaurants will gather at the festival to sell a small variety of their menus. Free live music will also be ongoing on five different outdoor stages. Notable acts like Kansas, Mary Lambert, and Chris August will be performing on the main stage. You can even take the kids to the KidZone, full of play equipment and a variety of craft activities.
Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Free Day
When: August 4, 2015
Where: Chatfield, 8500 Deer Creek Canyon Road, Littleton, CO
Time: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Escape the bussle of the city at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farm, known for its exceptional variety of wildlife. Bring the whole family to explore the nature trails, children’s play area, and numerous wildflower gardens.
Preview Night: Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks
When: August 6, 2015
Where: Denver Zoo
Time: 6:30pm to 9:30pm
Cost: $15 for adults, $10 for children
Join the Denver Zoo for a sneak peek of its newest exhibit, Nature Connects, Art with LEGO® Bricks. More than 30 life-sized LEGO sculptures of wildlife crafted by artist Sean Kenney will be on display. There will also be special demonstrations, keeper talks, and of course, the animals.
