David Cassidy, the once teen idol who rose to fame starring in “The Partridge Family,” was arrested for his third DUI last week in Los Angeles. According to the police report associated with this case, Cassidy was driving a rented Chevy Impala last Friday when, as he was leaving the Los Angeles International Airport, he reportedly ran a red light to make an illegal right-hand turn. A cop who had witnessed these alleged traffic violations then pulled Cassidy’s vehicle over and, upon questioning Cassidy, reported smelling alcohol emanating from the vehicle.

At this point, the police report explains that the officer requested that Cassidy submit to field sobriety testing and, subsequently, a blood alcohol content (BAC) test. While Cassidy reportedly failed the field sobriety testing, the results of the breathalyzer test he submitted to reported that he had an alleged BAC of 0.19 (which is more than double the legal limit). Following these failed breathalyzer results, Cassidy was arrested by the California Highway Patrol officer.

Cassidy’s Previous DUI Cases

Unfortunately, this recent DUI arrest is the third such DUI arrest that Cassidy has experienced within the past three years. Last August in New York, Cassidy was arrested for DUI when he reportedly failed to dim his headlights as he approached a sobriety checkpoint; upon submitting to a breathalyzer in that incident, Cassidy reportedly had a BAC of 0.10.

Prior to this second DUI, Cassidy was arrested for DUI in November 2010 in Florida. In February 2011, Cassidy plead “no contest” to this first DUI charge and, as a result, was sentenced to:

  • One year of probation
  • Six months of a suspended driver’s license
  • Mandatory attendance to DUI education classes
  • A $500 fine
  • 50 hours of community service.
