A 37-year-old man has officially been charged with four felonies and two misdemeanors as a result of his alleged role in causing a fatal DUI accident in the early morning hours of Christmas.
According to the police report associated with this case, the man was reportedly driving while under the influence of alcohol, going north on Peoria Street at East 51st Avenue, when he failed to stop at a red light and t-boned a vehicle that was carrying a married couple and their two children. While the man reportedly left the scene of the accident and did not call police to inform them of the collision, he was arrested within hours after the fatal accident and is currently being held in the Denver County Jail with bail set at $50,000. Police have not disclosed what the man’s reported blood alcohol was at the time of the accident, nor whether the man ultimately submitted to a breathalyzer or blood test when he was eventually arrested by the authorities.
Although the exact nature of the injuries sustained by the family in the other vehicle were not reported by law enforcement officials, the initial police report did state that the wife and mother was the individual who sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The husband and two children were reportedly injured and were taken to a local hospital for treatments.

It is unclear at this time if the suspect in this case has prior DUIs or a criminal record; if so, however, these factors could complicate a potential plea deal in his case.
